On leaving university Marigay McKee joined Clinique in New York working in PR, Marketing, Sales and Training Management. She continued working in the beauty industry in Spain with Clinique and Estee Lauder. Following her return to the UK, she worked for five years as Fashion Buyer for the Fenwicks Group.
Marigay joined Harrods in 1999
as Head of Perfumery & Cosmetics, in 2001 became General Manager of Beauty and a year later was promoted to Director of Beauty. During the past six years, beauty turnover increased from £30million to £63million, making Harrods the luxury playground of premium beauty. In the past three years, Marigay has focused her attention towards Fashion and
Womenswear. In 2005 she became Director of Fashion at Harrods, in addition to Beauty. In August, Marigay took charge of the entire Fashion directorate to include Mens, Sports and Childrens, a £375m business. In addition, she is the only female member of the Harrods Board of Directors. Her talent for spotting commercial opportunity and exclusivity is well-known,
demonstrated not least by the re-development of the White Cosmetics Hall at Harrods in 2001, and the planning and construction of the Urban Retreat spa in 2003.
Marigay's knowledge and opinions are constantly sought by the media. She has written a regular column in Harper’s Bazaar. Fluent in Spanish, French and Italian, Marigay has built a solid reputation
both in the UK and abroad, recently completing a study on luxury retailing across China, Japan, Russia and the Middle East. |
